The department started with the very inception of the Institute in the year 2002 with an intake of 240 students. Presently the intake has increased to 900 students in 5 branches of engineering. This department is a multi-disciplinary in nature with faculty belonging to different disciplines namely English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Environmental Studies. The Humanities and Sciences department plays a vital role in guiding the budding engineering graduates so that they have a smooth transition from 10+2 level to the study of engineering and technology.
The prime focus of the department is to provide a conceptual base in basic sciences that acts as a platform for students to leap into their core engineering courses. The department actively involves in training the students in all aspects like Soft Skills, Personality Development, Team Building, Organizational Skills and Leadership.
The department takes pride in having highly qualified, competent, dedicated and experienced faculty with strong educational and research background from premier institutes. The department has well equipped state-of-art laboratories in English, Physics and Chemistry.

The Humanities & Sciences Department plays a unique and distinctive role in the Institute where the ethos of science and technology prevails. The department mainly focuses on monitoring attendance, Internal marks and maintains the Parent-Institution communications of all first year students. The faculty works hard for achieving excellent results and takes utmost interest in conducting tutorial and remedial classes for needy students.
The department has introduced new courses such as Professional Ethics and Values and Technical Writing and Communication for the benefit of students. They also have keen interest for research and their thirst for research is apparent in conducting and attending workshops, seminars and conferences besides publishing/presenting research articles in various International and National Journals/Conferences.
Extensive training in Soft Skills is provided to students from the first year onwards in oral communication by conducting group discussions, role plays, mock interviews etc. Aptitude training that includes speed mathematics, puzzles, tips and time-management lessons are conducted in the III year. The department organizes a one week Orientation Programme for the first year students which includes Invited talks by eminent people from academia and industry. The department organizes Guest Lectures/Invited talks to inspire and motivate the students thus helping them not only in academics but in their all round development.
